Content writing professionals often set up personal blogs to share their knowledge and attract hundreds of readers due to their wonderful writing style and vast knowledge on different topics. Some build a blog to just boost their ego and get better ranks on vanity search while others try to earn money through the blogs by selling tutorial, e-books etc.

When you get hundreds of visit in a single day and lots of likes and tweets, you are bound to feel proud but what if you don’t have any
subscriber and nobody is buying your products? You start thinking what the hell readers are doing in your site if they are not even interested in your RSS feed? Don’t get frustrated. There are obviously some reasons for this.
Why visitors are not converting?
The main reason could be lack of trust. Yes, people are coming to your site and reading your articles but you have not given them a reason to keep coming back regularly. To increase the conversion rate, you have to build a reputation in the market and earn readers’ trust. Let me explain the situation with a simple example:
There are some drinks in the market that taste almost the same like Coca Cola but still millions of people prefer the reputed brand, not any other soft drink company! Why? Does it taste better? No, because they trust it for generations.
The second reason can be poor quality content. Maybe be your content doesn’t compel them to take an action. They visit the site, read a few lines, blame you for wasting their time and then leave.
The third reason can be they don’t know how they can subscribe for your newsletters or how they can buy an e-book. This problem can be solved easily by placing the subscription form on the homepage and embedding a large buy button with a “pay using credit card, PayPal” statement.
However, the first and second problem is far more complicated and here is what you should do to earn visitors’ trust.
#1. Focus your content
Be specific and maintain a subject to prove your authority. People don’t like a “jack of all trades” writer. I mean, would you trust a writer if you see that he writes on classical art and web programming in the same blog? Try to write on a topic that you know very well. For instance, most web content writers can write about SEO techniques and share some useful content writing rips.
#2. Make the content authentic
Some bloggers are always in a hurry to finish an article and they don’t spend time on research. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity. Therefore, do some research on the topic you are going to write to make sure you are able to provide all the necessary information and clear the last shadow of doubt from visitors’ mind. Your article should compel readers to come back to your site and recommend it to others.
#3. Maintain a posting schedule
Maintain a regular posting schedule. You may not post every day but whatever schedule you follow, keep doing it for a long time and readers will eagerly wait for your articles. For example, if you post one article on Monday and another just before the weekend, then readers will be able to follow your style quite easily. They will expect a newsletter from your site on these two days with the brief details of new articles.
#4. Reply to all the comments
Readers like to share their feelings after reading blog posts and some of them may post negative comments on your site. Don’t overlook the criticism or delete them. Read both positive and negative comments and write a reply to each and every commenter personally to show that you care for your readers. If you have made any mistake and visitors criticize you for that, say that you are sorry and thank them for highlighting the error. People love an honest and humble blogger.
#5. Build relationship with other bloggers
One of the easiest ways to earn readers’ trust is by writing some guest posts on other people’s blogs. When web users search your name in Google and find your articles on other reputed blogs, they will immediately understand that you are a renowned author. You can also write comments on quality blog articles to build a friendly relationship with reputed bloggers.
It’s all about building confidence and earning a good reputation. Being a content writing professional, you must be well aware of this mantra. Follow the aforementioned tips and you will surely notice a boost in your subscriber list and paid e-book downloads.

I think trust is usually the issue. It can really help if you have pictures about yourself and a high internet presence. People want to know who they are doing business with. Guest blogging and contributing to forums can really help with this. people want to be assured that you are not some anaymous person, or a fly-by-night.

Excellent points, Bivori!
I used to have a posting schedule were I posted every single day for 90 days, which helped me to write better copies and writing become more natural but I also got burnt out a bit.
So I would say to your readers (or whoever is reading my comment )that pick a schedule that you can keep up with!
cheers

Hi Aditi,
I think trust is important, and giving your reader what they came for – quality information or entertainment is also very crucial.
If you don’t interact with your readers by replying to comments you are indirectly telling them you don’t care about their visits.
Great post. Cheers!

Thanks for the tip about building trust on your blog with high quality content. Will constantly work on keeping content quality high.
I agree that trying to be a jack of all trades is a waste of time, it gets you lost & confused then before you know it time has gone by & you’ve gotten nowhere.
Therefore you end up going back to Square 1 which is “Focusing”, this is a major problem with building a business online & offline. People think they’re supposed to just jump up & have all this major success & authority figure when they completely missed out on the basics.
