Why Social Media is Integral to Blogging

The lifespan of blogging goes back nearly 20 years now, to 1994′s “Links.net” and its form and function show no sign of slowing. There are small personal blogs, large newsy blogs, video blogs and every conceivable blog for any topic you can imagine (well, most topics).

Blogging is an extension of our human-ness. What we think, feel and understand, we now feel a need to share, tell and communicate with others. The Internet helps us to create spaces for that. It provides the tubes to send our words and images quickly across the world. Humans have always been sharing these communications, but now our blogs are our authorship and messenger combined. In other words, our personalities are now ruled by social media.

Let’s learn the top ways that social media is integral to your blogging success

Social Media is the Playground

When we were kids, we shared tips, insights, rumors and taunts in the school yards, the playground and the parks. Today, social media networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are the playgrounds, and we’re still sharing the same insider info, but now it’s being broadcast to more than just a few select friends. It’s going out to everyone who can see it. If you want your blog to succeed, you have to share it with friends in the playground.

Social Media Shows Off Your Blog

Let’s follow that sharing theme. You love your blog, I’m sure I’d love it too, but you gotta share it with me first to find it. That’s the top value of social media, pushing out URLs, topics and themes that you blog about. If you don’t share it, I don’t see it. That’s it in a nutshell.

Social Media Protects You

For bloggers, social media is crucial to our protection and well-being. No, not protection like the companies listed at SecurityCompanies.com, but rather the type of protection from the slings and arrows of everyday digital life. Social media provides people to help protect your posts from nasty commentors, hackers and more. Social media brings you the heavies on your side to make your blog sturdy, with a good foundation beneath and a shot of love on top.

Social Media Encourages Your Blogging

It’s no secret that we pick up our blogging topics and themes from what we read about, think about and share with others on a daily basis. My favorite place to find timely and relevant blog posts are from the comments sections of popular blogs. So many smart people read these blogs, and usually have another side to explore in the comments. Find good blog sites to read, dip down into the comments and soon you’ll find gems to further explore in your posts.

Social Media Validates Your Blogging

When you started blogging, you were unsure if anything you written had any validity with others beyond your girlfriend and perhaps your dog. However, social media networks can help increase numbers and get your blog ranked even higher than your own efforts. Eventually, little bits of validity start to come your way. Even social media gurus and blogging experts’ careers have begun this way. Keep finding ways to share your blog posts through social media and you too may one day find true meaning.

  1. Hi Suresh,

You have really showed off the power of social media, I also remember those days when our play ground was football pitch but now for bloggers, the only playing ground is the internet on how to gain exposure, gain quality backlink, and share with online friends that will increases earning instead of spending days with offline friends that will not bring forth any benefit to our online career.

Social media has big impact on our life and in blogging career too. Without social media you can’t attract people toward you. Without social media linking a blog has nothing, you have to integrate if you want your blog at it peak.

  5. Great point, i love the aspect of social media being our playground of which is true. The main aspect of this is that a blog without social media is going down the drain and I’m yet to see one.

Social media also shows of our blog, which I’ll call promotion, i guess we’ll be invisible in the blogosphere without social media.
